Free Wedding Planning Guide

 

After Engagement

· Announce engagement through newspapers and/or send out announcements

· Decide if wedding will be formal or informal and set budget

· Make appointment to visit clergyman to select a service and set the date

· Interview and reserve hall or caterer, photographer, musicians and florist

· Estimate number of guests and prepare invitation list

· Select attendants, maid (matron) of honor, best man and ushers

· Select wedding dress and dresses for bridesmaids

· Register at the bridal registry at your favorite store(s)

· Discuss honeymoon locations and send for brochures, contact travel agent

Four Months Before The Wedding

· Order invitations, stationery and accessories

· Plan the honeymoon

· Shop for clothes for the honeymoon

· Have both mothers select their dresses

· Consult men's formalwear specialists for groom and ushers' attire

Two Months Before The Wedding

· Visit your doctor for a complete physical

· Address invitations and mail out about 7 to 8 weeks before wedding date

· Select your rings and order engraving

· Select gifts for groom and attendants

· Fiance selects gifts for best man and ushers

· Begin recording gifts and writing thank you notes

· Get marriage license (check state laws to see how many days a license is valid)
and make sure it is the right jurisdiction!

One Month Before The Wedding

· Order wedding cake if not handled by caterer/hall

· Arrange accommodations for out of town guests

· Final fitting for wedding gown and bridesmaids' dresses

· Arrange rehearsal dinner

· Arrange transportation to the ceremony and from the ceremony to reception

· Select special music with musician to be played at reception

Two Weeks Before The Wedding

· Send wedding announcement and photo to newspaper

· Make seating arrangement for reception and give caterer/hall final count

· Arrange for the move into your new home

· Make name change on all necessary documents

· Make an appointment with hairdresser for the wedding

One Week Before The Wedding

· Have final consultation with coordinator, caterer/hall, photographer, musician and

florist

· Confirm rehearsal plans with clergy and attendants

The Day Before The Wedding

· Delivery place cards and any other items to caterer/hall

· Go to bank and have checks ready to pay bills and tips on the day

· As difficult as it may be, go to bed early!

THE BIG DAY IS FINALLY HERE!!!!

· Relax in a warm bubble bath

· Go to the hairdresser, manicurist and makeup specialist

· Allow at least one hour to get dressed

· Bring checkbook and money

· Bring an extra pair of stockings

· HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME!!!!

After You Return From Your Honeymoon

· Write and send thank you notes

· Select Album photographs and distribute

· Review video/DVDs
